Lumentum Switzerland AG is a leading design center of ultrafast pico- and femtosecond laser systems featuring excellent performance and long-term opto-mechanical stability. We seek an intern to work in a fast paced, international development environment. The position will be limited to minimum 6 months and maximum 1 year.
Job Responsibilities:
- Independent characterization and analysis of optical assemblies and laser systems
- Assemble optical parts with UV curable epoxy
- Optimize glue dispensing and UV curing methods
- Verification and improvement of subassemblies, toolings and processes
- Collaborate with the process engineering and automation teams for instrument testing, lab measurements, and system validation
- Use the robot system for the optical assembly validation
- Use of test and measurement equipment for laser characterization (autocorrelators, power meters, spectrometers, oscilloscopes, optical and RF spectrum analyzers, etc.)
- Program short sequences for testing
- Analyse, document and present test data
- Write work instructions in English.
Requirements:
- Bachelor/Master degree in Lasers, Photonics, Material Science, Engineering or Physics
- Experience working with optical components
- Experience working in a lab environment
- Teamwork orientation with good communication, documentation, and presentation skills
- Python programming knowledge is a plus
- Self-motivated, able to plan tasks and small projects, to adhere to deadlines
- Fluency in English (oral and written)
- Experience with UV curing epoxy is a plus
