Job description

Philochem AG seeks a highly motivated and cooperative Research Associate to join our Antibody Therapeutic group. Our focus is the generation of novel antibody-based therapeutics for cancer treatment and other diseases. The successful candidate will design, produce, and purify prototypes using standard and advanced biomolecular procedures, which will be tested both in vitro and in vivo.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Teaming up with the laboratory manager to ensure good work organization
  • Design and plan scientific project related to R&D of new targeted biopharmaceutical
  • Antibody discovery using proprietary phage display libraries
  • Expression, purification and characterization of recombinant proteins
  • Participating in routine cell culture tasks

Minimum requirements

  • A master’s Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field, ideally with at least 2 years of relevant laboratory research experience (e.g., industry experience). Please note that we do not currently require a PhD level candidate for this position.
  • Experience with classic molecular biology techniques (e.g., primer design, cloning, PCRs, vector design).
  • Experience with protein expression and purification concepts (prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression).
  • Experience with basic analytical protein biochemistry.
  • Experience in working with rodents (i.e. LTK1 FELASA certificate) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner.
  • Strive for scientific excellence and attention to detail while being pragmatic.
  • Ability to see the big picture and strategic thinking.
  • Strong team player with curiosity for the view of others.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is a must. Knowledge of German would be ideal.
